Kenneth Sloan is a west coast artist and event designer, originally from Seattle, who has made San Francisco his home for the last 23 years. He is a self-taught artist whose focus has been exploring different ways of working with epoxy resin. In his recent body of work, Sloan’s focus has been on pattern, rhythm and repetition. Patterns are sandwiched between layers of clear resin, giving his work
unusual depth.

There is a careful balance in the juxtaposition of the organic layers of distressed pigment and the slick glassy layers of resin. His work comes from that intersection of synthetic and organic elements. Inspiration for each individual piece is based on vivid color and textural memories of the places he has lived or visited. Fresh layers merge with older eroding layers to create new unexpected perspectives.

“There is something perfect to be found in the imperfect: the law keeps balance through the juxtaposition of beauty, which gains perfection through nurtured imperfection.”
― Dejan Stojanovic
