Deborah Brown

New York artist Deborah Brown has captivated the artworld with both her landscape works, and more recently with her paintings of New York City shelter dogs. Critic Ruth Bass writes, "Brown goes beyond romanticism, using the landscape as an occasion for exploring the limits of superheated color as a vehicle for personal expression." When it comes to her portrayal of unwanted dogs, Brown takes the informed study of her earlier work and ups the psychological ante.
